A quieter week of competition but a whole variety of events from those who did take on a race – from speed with sprints to steeplechase, the mile to 10k we saw some brilliant results from our athletes as always!

Stratford Speed

In London on Sunday, the Stratford Speed event was taking place – an event that attracted an incredibly high calibre of sprinters, allowing our athletes to witness top class racing and take part too! First up, amidst the 93(!) 100m races, U17 Wayne Imbuwa sprinted to double PB’s across the two rounds of the event. A first effort of 11.94 was bettered in the second round with a great sprint of 11.89. Thanks for capturing the race Mark! Our U15 female sprinters all tested themselves over 200m – Ava Carter up first with a good run of 27.13, Stephanie Smith, continuing a great run of form, to sprint to a new PB of 27.03 and Katie Lowe pushing herself to a new best of 27.21. All times were wind legal too! Final runner of the day was Mattie Delea (U15) who got the worst of the weather with a downpour of rain!  Clearly keen to escape it, Mattie ran a brilliant race to take six seconds off his 800m time – 2:06.63.

Masters Walks

Congratulations to race walker Stuart Bennett who has come back from the World Masters in Madeira in great form! Competing on Sunday over 10k and 1 mile in Oxford at the British Masters championships, Stuart picked a gold and silver medal! In the one mile race his time of 9:20 saw him take the title whilst he finished runner up in the 10k with his walk of 64 minutes. Thanks for the photo Stuart!

Thameside 10k /1k

Well done to Paul and Isla Johnson who took part in the Thameside 10k and 1k fun run on Sunday morning. A 10k race that tested Paul’s resolve but ultimately saw him finish a brilliant 16th in a time of 45:53. Great running too from Isla in the 1k – very much deserved her medal!

Hurdlefest

Congratulations to Olivia Forrest who made her Steeplechase debut on Saturday at the Bruce Longden Foundation Hurdlefest event in Chelmsford. Taking on the U20 distance of 2000m Olivia took the race win in 7:19.64.

Mile

On Friday night Madison Kindler travelled to Eastbourne for the Ron Hill mile night. Another strong performance over the distance, saw Maddie finish just outside of her PB in 5:04.48. Well done!
